Come to the water.....

My fiance, Jenny, showed me this amazing website called CompassionArt ! If you haven't heard about it or seen it you need to check it out. It is truly inspiring. It is a group of artists who are trying to bridge the gap between some of the poorest places in the world with YOU!

Here is a direct quote from one of the founders of the group: ".......So CompassionArt was born, a charity dedicated to seeing works of art generate income for the poorest of the poor. So these songs that will be written in Scotland in January will be owned by the charity meaning that every penny will come to it and the trust will own these copyrights forever. The publishers, the managers, the agents and the writers have waived all their rights to see something historic happen, the music business coming together for something great, something that is about something greater than any individual could achieve."

The website is very thorough and explains, in detail, what extreme poverty really is. Oh, and the songs that the CompassionArt group has written will blow you away. The lyrics alone caused Jenny to tear up. She would give her right arm to be back in Brazil, where she spent 2 years of her life back in high school. Check out these videos...listen to the lyrics....

I hope you have the chance to check out the Website at http://www.compassionart.tv/

Britain's Got Talent

So supposedly the new rave is this "Britain's Got Talent" Tv show...it's the tea and crumpets version of "America's Got Talent." Yes, one of the judges is Simon Cowell...and he's actually pretty light-hearted on this show. Maybe he has a different reputation in different countries? hmm......doubt it! Well, anyways....without further waiting, here are some cool clips from the show:

Early Birds...season finale.....

This year has been awesome....I can't believe the end is almost here, but it truly has been awesome. I got engaged....my brother and his family had a new baby boy....and the season's end of the Early Birds Club is finally upon us! This past Thursday was the last meeting of the school year, so I decided to splurge a little bit. I rented a fat-daddy obstacle course for the kids. It was about 40 feet long and was bouncy....the kids had no idea it was going to be there when they arrived to the gym at 7:00 that morning! They went from a zombie-like, half dead state to an immediate bright-eyed and bushy tailed status when they walked in the door. I was very happy that they got to experience all this fun...they truly deserved it! We had way over 150 kids this meeting....almost too many to handle. If I do this next year I will definitely rent more than one moonwalk bounce house thingy. We had breakfast biscuits for all the kids too....some of them looked like they might be a little sick after they exhausted so much energy running through the obstacle course and then scarfing down a sausage biscuit! However, the end result was no casualties to the porcelain throne....breakfast managed to stay down. So, until next year.....It was an honor and a privilege to be a part of this Club......thank you to all the volunteers who helped this run smoothly....thanks to the parents for letting their children join....and thanks to the kids for being absolutely wonderful the entire year.....may the Early Birds hibernate peacefully!

Blue Zones....

OK, so apparently there are places in the world called, "Blue Zones," where longevity is in abundance. People routinely live to be over a hundred in these areas. For example, in Costa Rica there is a remote peninsula that is known as the largest Blue Zone in the world. Hundreds of people live to be a centurion in this secret place. Recently, Oprah and her band of goobers went to visit these places to find the secrets to living past the big one-zero-zero mark. They came across a lady chopping wood for cooking...she was 102! They also saw some dude cruising around on a bike....he was 95! That's a lot of candles on a birthday cake. It seems as if these people drink very hard water from the mountains, which is chock full of minerals and nutrients. They also have extremely strong bones because of the enriched water they drink. Where we would fall and break a hip at the ripe old age of 70, they would fall and bounce back back up. One of the other keys to a living a long life had to do with families. All the families in this village live together, which I thought was pretty cool. I don't recommend it, but it was cool. Patrone, who is 107, had his daughter fix Oprah's crew a nice meal. She happened to be 65 and appeared to get more exercise in making a meal than most Americans do in an entire week. They don't have electricity deep in the jungle.....everything is done by hand, which replaces a nice sculpting workout in the gym any day. Check out Oprah's news story on the BLUE ZONES.....click

The Countdown is on....

This is the love of my life, Jenny! We will be getting married this summer on June 20th of 2009. By the time we actually seal the deal we would of been engaged 11 months. I do not recommend this lengthy of an engagement to anyone.....5-6 months would have been ideal. However, time has actually flown by and we will be Mr. and Mrs. Medlin in a little over 2 months.
KIDS CAMP PICTURES

Yes, Jenny is younger than me....but who cares? I don't! I know without a shadow of a doubt that we are God's best for each other...it is amazing to think about how we ended up together: At the time, I reluctantly agreed to be in charge of the recreation at my church's Kid's Camp in the summer of '07. I had just finished teaching and I was needing a little break from the youngins, but God pressed and pressed with me that summer. I had previously told our children's pastor NO, but with two days before they left for camp I called him and asked for the job back. I had never felt God wanting me to do something so badly before this....it was almost like he was saying, "Matt...you idiot....go to Kid's Camp!" So, there ya have it...that's how I ended up at camp. Low and behold, guess who was the intern for the children's ministry and also had to be there at camp this summer? Yep.....Jenny Moyers! That whole experience at camp was the best thing that has ever happened to me. Not only did I meet my future wife, but I got plugged into a ministry that I was so desperately longing for. Long story short.....one year later I proposed to Jenny at the very camp where I met her.....it holds the title of the best day of my life, so far! However, I am positive that June 20th 2009 will take over that spot very shortly! It is funny how God works...especially when you obey him!
