Had to go on and do it....

I've always wanted some Cornrows in my hair...if you dont know what they are click here. Like I was saying...I have always wanted them, but never had a reason, the time, or long enough hair for them. Well today everything aligned perfectly!

Reason: Dodgeball tourney tomorrow - click here - chick fila for a year is at stake! We won it last year, so now we gotta defend our title....don't believe me?...click here - gotta have some cornrows for the tourney!
Time: It's Friday....I'm a school teacher.....I got all the time in the world. Oh, and my wife's at work till late.
Hair: Its longer than it used to be. Because when I hear people yell "get a haircut sunshine"... I know they're serious.
So, I went to the only place I knew that braided hair:
Josette's Unisex Hair Salon

This place was the bomb (do people still say that?) This nice lady, from Haiti, looked at me like I was lost when I walked in, but gladly put my hair in some rows.

After an hour of feeling like someone was slowly twisting off my sideburns, I declare that this is the last thing my enemies will see tomorrow before they get hit in the face with a dodgeball:

On a side note, once my head goes numb I think I'll be ok. Otherwise, these badboys might be comin out pretty soon!

Where was all this when I was ten?

So, I was doing my daily surf on the net-highway and came across some pretty cool things kids can do nowadays. But, first let me reminisce for a bit. Back when I was in elementary school we didn't have the luxury of playing on the Xbox 360 alongside Sven, while he played simultaneously in Denmark. Instead, we played war in the woods with tennis balls for grenades and sticks with pokey edges for swords. Needless to say, this eventually led to me falling out of a 35 foot tree and having to wear a helmet for close to a year (squishy scalp is what the doc said)....Let's just say my game with the ladies was a little off that year......But ya know being called "helmet-head" wasn't too bad on the self-esteem. Gah, where was Dr. Phil when I truly needed him? I can distinctly remember some third-grader coming up to me at recess and saying "why you got a bike helmet on your head?" .....the nerve, right? I was fragile. Anyways, here are some cool things I found that kiddos can do these days (don't try at home.....unless someone's videotaping)

The new Justin Beiber?....

This is a dude.....a Taiwanese dude with an interesting haircut....but he can sang!

oh, and this is not my YouTube video...so I'm not calling him "fat" in the title. Personally, I think he's fit.

Gettin my Blog on....

Okay,...so I know it's been awhile since I have last posted. Call it writer's block, call it a priority adjustment, chalk it up to procrastination, blame it on our new baby....jk, no new baby. Say whatever you wish to say, but I am officially back. I promise (will try my hardest, but not promising anything) to update my blog on a regular basis.

It was hard to decide on what my first blog of the new year should be about....the Braves? Too early. Lady GaGa? Too scary. My marraige? Too mushy. How about random pictures and events from the past? Perfect.

I have been rummaging through various trunks and boxes and briefcases the past few days because we are having a joint garage sale with my parents ( official plug of the event). In these priceless boxes of assorted memories I stumbled upon several eye-opening artifacts:

ITEM #1

LOGANVILLE MIDDLE SCHOOL AGENDA....... '94-'95 SCHOOL YEAR

WAIT! It gets better....inside the agenda I found this....

It reads: "Matt pulled Jason's pants down while we were outside today! He was given a strike!"

Seriously? A strike....c'mon, for that? Everybody pulls everybodys pants down in front of the entire 6th grade while outside at recess. Geeeeez Mrs. Mika! On a side note, my mom was not happy about signing that one....

ITEM # 2

Creepy picture I had to draw for ART class. Well, lemme take that back.....I had to draw a picture for ART class....I took it upon myself to make it creepy.

ITEM # 3

My STAR student award from Kindergarten. All of my classmates commented about our deep and meaningful friendship on the actual award....i'll post some comments below

comment from Charlie: "I like what he is doing in the picture." - thanks Charlie,..back atcha buddy!

comment from Jeremy: "I am sorry he got hit by a car." - how thoughtful Jeremy...I am sorry you got chicken pox when you were 3. I am also sorry you bonked your head on the fireplace that one time.
comment from Andrew F: "I like his basket." - how dare you, Andrew!

comment from Brandon H: "He has pretty eyes." - c'mon buddy....seriously? I'm squinting anyways.

Blogged out - Matt
